DOUGLAS MEHRENS, founder of the Encaustic Art Institute, Museum of Encaustic Art, the online Encaustic Arts Magazine – has been working with encaustic/wax going on 35 years. In the last few years of his art career, he has been working on combining other media with encaustic/wax. Mehrens enjoys inventing ways to maximize the properties, benefits and characteristic strengths of media such as watercolor and resin with encaustic/wax to generate new and exciting outcomes. He shares his vast knowledge and playfulness with students to help them grow creatively.
