In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Encaustic Arts Magazine, The Museum of Encaustic Art Proudly Presents

Encaustic Arts Magazine 10th Anniversary Museum Exhibition

This exhibit has closed, the online catalog is still viewable, and link to order print copy of catalog found below.

The Museum of Encaustic Art is proud to present this exhibition in collaboration with Encaustic Arts Magazine’s 10 year Anniversary (2011 – 2021).  Published twice yearly, the magazine has highlighted 146 artists in total with articles in the magazine. This exhibition is curated from work donated to the Museum’s permanent collection by artists featured in the magazine.

We also celebrate the editors who brought this dream to life and pay tribute to all the advertisers, both artists and art vendors who have helped us make the online magazine affordable. Finally, recognition goes to subscribers in over 44 countries who continue to be interested in the leading edge of encaustic and wax art.

Magazine History: The magazine was conceived by Douglas Mehrens with the simple idea that with the growing popularity of the encaustic/wax medium there should be a magazine dedicated to it.  As other small publishers have found, print magazines are cost-prohibitive. The digital (online) venue allows us to make the magazine affordable and available worldwide. The first editor, Michael Phillip Pearce, an artist, and designer, brought the magazine to fruition. Kim Mehrens then volunteered to step in as we searched for a full-time editor. Kari Gorden took over in 2013. Her expertise as both a designer and encaustic artist, as well as her attention to detail and collaborative spirit make her the perfect fit. The Encaustic Arts Magazine is a separate entity from the Museum of Encaustic Art, and both are under the  501c3 Encaustic Art Institute

The exhibit opens on October 9th and ran through May 1. The online catalog is viewable below, and a link to purchase print copies of the catalog is also found below.
